Israel flight hijacking latest: Netanyahu names ‘true hero’ pilot who opened cockpit door after being stabbed
The flight from Dubai to Israel plunged approximately 13,000 feet in 30 seconds after the pilot lost control of the aircraft
What the coverage shows
All four outlets center on Netanyahu’s remarks and the FlyDubai flight incident, with the stabbed Indian pilot described as the key figure in preventing a worse outcome. Al Jazeera and The Independent foreground Netanyahu’s praise of Captain Smit Machchhar, while Axios adds the strongest drama, quoting a “9/11 disaster” comparison. CBS News is the only outlet that explicitly highlights Netanyahu saying he did not think it was a hijacking.
